Overview
Family owned Thala Beach Nature Reserve, a five star eco resort south of Port Douglas, sits atop a headland with breathtaking views of untouched coastline, and provides the prefect location to explore the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.
At a time when there are great concerns about fragile environments, Thala proudly boasts that is has achieved the highest accreditation of eco certification through its sustainable practice and environmental sensitivity.
Deluxe timber bungalows are built on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world. All bungalows have views either to the ocean or the forested mountains. Time spent relaxing on the timber-decked verandas is always well rewarded by sightings of birds, butterflies, possums and sugar gliders.
The views from the restaurant are panoramic, taking in the sparkling waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage forest that cover our coastal ranges. Guests dine among the birds in the surrounding treetops whilst enjoying world-class fine food with friendly five-star service.
Paths meander through rainforests and woodlands that provide healthy habitats for extraordinary birds, plants and animals and connect with private sandy beaches.
Delightful hours are spent discovering native flora and fauna, secluded coves and rock pools. Complementary onsite guided tours led by passionate and informative staff include a unique Coconut Odyssey, stargazing at an outdoor observatory, nature walks and bird watching tours. All over the 145 acres of Thala Beach Nature Reserve, guests find themselves in an unsurpassed enchanting, relaxing environment that truly captures the diverse essence of North Queensland.
